Valarie is a graduate of Portland State University with a degree in
Music Composition and German Language. In 1983 she was a Fullbright
scholar to Austria where she did graduate work in music education at
the Hochschule in Vienna and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. She
continued her graduate studies at Portland State University where
she was awarded a Masters of Education in Curriculum Development.
For the last 20 years she has had an extensive career in Education
Administration and Development. She has a great passion for Swedish
Language and culture. Valarie is the child of immigrant Swedish
parents. Having a foot in each country she has always had two homes
one in Portland, Oregon and another in Visby ,Gotland. When in
Sweden you can find her on the island of Gotland. Valarie currently
lives in Maryville Tennessee with her husband and 3 children.
